HOME OFFERS POETIC LICENCE FOR PERIOD WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

One of the heritage jewels in Cumbria¹s crown is creating a means through which brides and grooms can really live the romantic dream.

Wordsworth House, in Cockermouth - the childhood home of Romantic poet, William Wordsworth, is wooing couples who want to give their wedding album more than a few talking points.

It is opening up both its interior and gardens to brides, grooms or couples who wish to have their wedding photography set in a historic and romantic context, having created three different options that can provide the perfect period photography.

Bronze, Silver and Gold photographic packages are available, the grading being determined by the level of access to the historic home. All three packages allow photographs to be taken within both the gardens and interior of Wordsworth House.

The Bronze package enables the bride, or couple, to have photographs taken on the front step of the Georgian property, on its impressive staircase and on its terrace walk. It offers access to these areas for up to an hour.

The Silver package includes these areas, along with the grand drawing room, plush dining room and best 1770s parlour, all of which have been sympathetically restored to offer historic authenticity, right down to the smallest detail. This shoot can last up to 1.5 hours.

Moving up to the Gold package allows the subjects and photographer to enjoy 2 hours in the property, in all of the areas covered by the Silver package, but with the added feature of having a costumed servant in the shots.

The National Trust property believes this will become a highly popular choice for Cumbrian couples looking for something extra. It also feels it can attract romantics from further afield, to the benefit of the local economy.

Custodian of Wordsworth House, Zoe Gilbert, says: "Wordsworth House is a home full of Georgian character and style and has the power to transport visitors to a bygone age when romance was most definitely alive. Period dramas have brought history alive and brides want to live the historical dream. We are providing them with the means to do so and are confident that our packages will be of huge appeal."

The price of these packages ranges from £60 to £150, according to time and wishes. This unique offer is available during the house¹s season (March to October) for the Gold and Silver package, and all year round for the Bronze.

Those wishing to add a historical and truly romantic backdrop to their wedding photography, either before or after the official ceremony, can call Zoe Gilbert on 01900 824805 or e-mail zoe.gilbert@nationaltrust.org.uk
