CockRock

Cockermouth Rock Music Festival is a non profit festival set up to help provide funding support for two great local causes, the Great North Air Ambulance and Cockermouth Mountain Rescue, and to encourage and promote local bands and musicians. Find out about Cockrock (official website)

The idea for a rock festival came about in 2004 when Cameron Wood had a cycling accident whilst riding locally. Cameron required immediate medical attention, as he had severely damaged his spine. Help came in the form of The Great North Air Ambulance, so it was decided to take action and help raise money for this vital service. A concert was thought to be an excellent and fun way of doing this, and money received would be split between 2 great local causes - The Great North Air Ambulance as well as our Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team.

The 2007 12-hour festival, held on July 21 at Wellington Farm, attracted 3,000 music fans to watch local bands, all of whom played for free. Organisers gave £5,000 to Cockermouth Mountain Rescue and £5,000 to the Great North Air Ambulance (Pride of Cumbria).
