This is a celebration of Cockermouth and its people. Paintings by Peter Quinn Photographs from Local People 30 minute film footage of the floods and aftermath. Please note the gallery will be open daily during this exhibition except Thursdays and Sundays. He loves Cockermouth and has been using it for a basis for his paintings for many years.After the flood of November 20th 2009, he put together this collection of paintings from his sketchbook and memories.

Show starts 20:00 The a-capella vocal group �Mouthful�(no strangers to the Kirkgate) have been working with singers and musicians from the Eastern Cape (South Africa). Today they join forces for a day of workshops, aimed at community choirs, teachers and other interested adults; followed by a concert, which includes traditional African singing, dance and drumming, and vocal music from around the world. Cockermouth continues to recover from the pounding given by the floods and has announced that this year�s Georgian fair will go ahead on the 1st May. The fair is intended to celebrate the period in its history when the town grew into an important centre for trading and manufacturing as a result of the wool and weaving trades. During this time,it became famous as the birthplace of William Wordsworth, John Dalton, Fearon Fallows, John Walker and Fletcher Christian, names redolent of the age. The event was established A special market was held on the main street and a day of enjoyable pleasures was laid on. Local people joined in with a will and were encouraged to �dress like a Georgian�. This year�s Fair will also host a celebration of traditional and historic dance. It will include some of the elegant dances that would have been familiar to �Pride and Prejudice� author Jane Austen.
