Minutes of a meeting of Cockermouth Town Council held in the Council Chamber, Town Hall, Cockermouth on 22 April 2010 at 7.00pm Members S Coates (Mayor) A Kennon C M Jackson Also present: 1 Police representative, 1 Press representatives & Dr Leslie Tickner 170 To authorise the Mayor to sign as a correct record the minutes

2010 be 171 Declaration of Interest None declared. The Mayor wished Councillor I Burns a speedy recovery following her
recent The Town Mayor gave details of the events he had attended since the last meeting. These included:- Lakes College Dinner 173 Attendance by Police PC Wheelhouse attended the meeting. Incidents of note included:- Robbery in Windmill Lane Crime in All Saints had decreased from 35 to 33 offences. Crime in

of the outreach 178a Cockermouth Carnival Agreed That the content of the closing order for the Carnival be noted. 178b Cockermouth Spring Fair Agreed That the content of the closing order for the Spring Fair. 178c Cockermouth Georgian Fair Agreed That the detail of the closing order for the Georgian Fair be noted. 178d Georgian Fair Resolved That Councillors Standage and Tyson be put foward as volunteers. 178e CALC Circular Agreed That the content of the circular be noted. 178f Derwent Owners Association Agreed That the minutes of the meeting held on the 19 March
2010 be noted. Resolved That councillor Jackson be nominated to shortlist
and interview 178h Complaint from Mr Baron Members considered the receipt of a complaint from Mr Baron regarding the blackamoor effigy outside the barber shop on Market Place. Agreed That the complaint be received. 178i Cumbria In Bloom Members considered a request from Mr Heath requesting re-consideration
of our Resolved That there be no change to our original decision. 178j Georgian Fair Resolved That the Georgian Fair Group be allowed to use Town
Council bollards 178k Creation of a new access Agreed That it be noted Allerdale Borough Council have no objection to the creation of an improved disabled access into the Town Hall via the rear boundary wall of the building with access being taken from the Riverside Car Park subject to planning approval being sought. 178l Death of 3 pilots from RAF in Prunieres Resolved That no official party be sent for the anniversary but that the Cockermouth Rotarians visit the site a week later during their visit. 178m Grandfather Clock, Mayors Parlour Resolved That the clock be accommodated in the Tourist Information Centre. 178n Wakefield Road Car Park Agreed That it be noted that Allerdale Borough Council would
not agree to free 178o Signage Tourist Information Centre Those present considered a request from Mrs Lawton regarding the lack
of signage Agreed That no action be taken. 178p Site Management Statements/Agreements Members considered the contents of a letter from the Derwent Owners
Resolved That the Derwent Owners Association (DOA) be informed
that the 179 Clerks Report Resolved (a) That the content of the report be noted. (b) That the Town Council employs Keith Irving as our Town Crier as of 1 April 2010 and that his honorarium of 20 guineas be paid forthwith. (c) That tourist information staff be congratulated on their attainment of a 100% score following a recent mystery shopper visit. (d) That the Clerk proceeds with the attainment of signage for the
front of the Town Hall. Dr Tickner was currently working on several work strands, these included:- Shop Front Group Dr Tickner also circulated draft details of Millers Footbridge and requested that comments be feed back to him. Agreed That the contents of the briefing note be noted. The meeting closed at 9.15pm
